Construction began in November for the Transmission Line Replacement for 5 MG Tank project with pipeline installation in Centennial Park. This project includes the replacement of two parallel pipelines that connect the supply and distribution components of the City’s water system with the storage located at the Reservoir Yard off Fore Road. The Reservoir Yard contains the largest storage volume in the Pocatello water system and these pipelines are a critical component of the water system. Originally installed in 1933, these pipes are nearing the expected useful life for cast iron pipe and replacement is necessary to assure that the pipelines have reliability commensurate with their importance to the system. The project includes replacement of approximately 5,650 feet of pipe, underground crossing of the Portneuf River, and rehabilitation of a 650 ft. length of existing pipeline across the Pocatello rail yard.
