The City of Pocatello has secured funds to improve the intersection of Hawthorne and W. Quinn Roads. The Bannock Transportation Planning Organization (BTPO) Policy Board has determined that traffic at this unsignalized intersection has exceeded its design capacity and that further improvements are necessary to upgrade capacity and safety. Project Engineering Consultants (PEC) was hired by the City to complete a traffic study, geotechnical analysis and ultimately produce an approved Concept Report.

The Concept Report reviewed viable alternatives, present estimated costs for each alternative, and recommended a best alternative based on practicality, future traffic projections, public acceptance and overall cost. The recommended alternative for this intersection was a traffic signal.
