The preliminary design phase of the Hawthorne-Quinn Intersection Improvement project has wrapped up.
The design shows a signal and other improvements added to the intersection in an effort to improve safety and also reduce congestion. In April, an open house was held and input gathered from local residents to help with the preliminary design portion of the project. Since that open house, officials have removed the park strips that were originally incorporated into the design, coordinated with utility companies, reached out to property owners in the area, and completed an environmental evaluation.
“The project is moving along about as smoothly as we could expect,” said Jeff Mansfield, Project Engineer for the City of Pocatello. “Right now, we are on track to complete final design and begin right-of-way acquisition in 2017. Construction would begin in 2018.”
